The power of a mixed-age room
Mixed-age environments create something beautifully natural. Younger children are inspired by older peers. Older children grow in confidence by leading, helping and modelling. In our room of up to 20 children, this happens every day — children teaching each other things no educator could plan, and learning that they each have something valuable to offer.
NSW Start Strong · Government Funded Preschool
Our preschool experience is delivered by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher and eligible for NSW Start Strong fee relief — up to $2,563 per year for 4-year-olds and up to $769 for 3-year-olds, on top of your Child Care Subsidy. Ask us about your family’s eligibility.
The same daily rhythm holds for every child — giving 3-year-olds the security of predictable routine, while giving 5-year-olds a structure that mirrors what Kindergarten will feel like.

Our preschool room is set up to support children at every stage — spaces that invite exploration for younger children, and structured learning areas that prepare older ones for the rhythm of a school day. The environment itself teaches independence, focus and self-regulation.
Every child in our preschool room — whether they are 3, 4 or 5 — is given access to rich, meaningful learning experiences. What changes is how we deliver them, tailored to where each child is developmentally. No child waits until they are "old enough". No child is pushed before they are ready.
The best thing we can give a child at any age is a love of figuring things out. We nurture that through projects, experiments, questions and creative challenges. A 3-year-old discovering that water changes shape. A 4-year-old asking why the sky is blue. A 5-year-old designing a solution to a problem they invented. This is what a love of learning looks like — and it starts here.
For our 5-year-olds — a school transition promise
In the term before Kindergarten, we work intentionally to prepare your child — building routines similar to a school day, practising independence, and making sure they arrive at orientation already feeling capable and calm. Their new teacher receives a detailed NSW Transition to School Statement, written with your input, so nothing important about your child gets lost in the handover.
Whether your child is just settling into preschool life or counting down to Kindergarten, they leave Stellar Nest with something no checklist can measure — a genuine belief that they are capable, connected and ready for what comes next.
